Our Future.   Some of the things I plan to accomplish 2022 to 2026

Investigate ways to make the new town hub financially feasible.

 

Build a Sports Hall of Fame in the Town Hub (we have so much talent in SBP).

 

Ensure all the upgrades planned for Bluewater Park are completed.

 

Ensure we get our share of the newly announced $56 million funding for rural internet.

 

Continue to push service providers for internet and natural gas in unserviced areas of SBP.

 

Continue to defend our ownership of Sauble Beach.

 

Continue to push commercial, retail and residential development in SBP.

 

Continue to replace aging infrastructure in Wiarton. 

 

Continue to increase our assets while keeping our property tax increases to a minimum.

 

Complete the small stone retaining wall on Lakeshore Blvd to create safe parking so we can remove the jersey barriers.

 

Ensure the transition of the Propeller club to affordable housing apartments.

 

And that’s just a start...

 

Why I'm asking for your vote.

It’s been an incredibly challenging 4 years. COVID consumed half of our term but we put measures in place that allowed us to come through it relatively unscathed for a town that sees 1.5 million tourists. Despite the pandemic, we accomplished an incredible amount for our town. In the face of the unknowns of Covid, we pushed forward, looking after the business of the people. We made smart investments in our future and I’m proud to report we are in better financial shape than ever before as we increased our capital and financial assets while paying off virtually all town debt. We replaced a substantial amount of critical infrastructure, and we invested in health and recreation through the new Medical Clinic and EMS station to the improvements in Bluewater Park and Wiarton’s downtown core. We did all of this while keeping your overall municipal property tax increases among the lowest in Bruce County. I’ve had the pleasure of working with the most amazing council and we seamlessly worked as a unit to accomplish so much. I hope you support my team again; our experience, passion and fortitude has advanced our town substantially and we’re eager to continue. I love working for you and I thank you for trusting in me over the last 12 years. We need experience to guide our town through the growth and challenges we see on our horizon and I truly hope you will give me the opportunity
